Horror movies for you to watch with your friends this Halloween

I have gathered a small list of less known or forgotten horror movies that you can enjoy this Halloween. Some are old B&W psychological thrillers like “The haunting” and some are cult classics i.e. “The vanishing”.

The haunting 1965

Welcome to Hill House, one of Scorceze’s favorites, this psychological horror film sets the standards on paranormal movies. The guests of Hill house are gathered to investigate if the gothic mansion is really haunted or not. (I say it is, run for your lives. )Once It get’s dark the fun starts, the last 30 min of the movie did it for me as I didn’t expect such an old movie to be so damn scary. Do not watch the crappy 2007 remake go for the original that some brave soul has uploaded in YouTube.

Enter Hill house:

The innocents

If you are into old movies my next choice is “the Innocents” taken from the classic horror book “The turning of the screw”, this atmospheric masterpiece features all the ingredients for you to shit bricks.
Disturbingly scary children, gothic mansion, deep atmospheric feel, chilling music.

You can also imagine Nicole Kidman trying to copy Deborah Kerr‘s performance for “The others”

The vanishing 1988 Dutch film

The vanishing has all these little details that make it one of the best horror movies ever made. First of all it makes you sit comfortable and not take it so seriously, it has a subtle humor, and it makes you enjoy the ride, until it hits you with a hammer in the face. I always say there is nothing scarier than people. Saskia and Rex are a lovely couple on a road trip to France, at a gas stop Saskia mysteriously disappears and Rex devotes his life to find her….

Exte エクステ 2007 japan

This cult Japanese horror movie is one that will stick to you for some time.
I had no idea hair can be scary until I saw this film. It’s the story of a man that has a hair fetish; some aspiring hairdressers and a corpse with a hairy grudge. Watching it will make you laugh, freak out and develop new phobias on top the usual.
I am now afraid of spiders open closets and hair.

Would you like a haircut? Please take a sit here
